Congrats to local Utah entrepreneur Richard Tripp and the folks from Yepic on their new beta release as featured in Digital IQ magazine. For those of you who haven’t heard of Yepic, its an online “content marketplace that enables bloggers and other users to buy and sell premium user-generated content”. It’s a cool idea and a great article. Fun stuff. :)

I really liked Matt Asay’s analysis of the Novell – Microsoft deal. If you’re into open source (especially in relation to business), it’s a must-read.
It looks like MarketingSherpa (a great company that sells internet marketing case studies, etc) was just purchased by MEC Labs (MarketingExperiments.com). The MarketingSherpa story (like most successes) is pretty inspiring. Anne Holland talks about it an email just sent out to readers:
“Back in March 2000, when I founded MarketingSherpa from my second bedroom (yes, honestly), I dreamed it would grow to be the most tremendous source of practical research for the marketers of the world. Now we’re at 237,000 readers, three main offices and nearly 700 case studies. It’s been an incredibly satisfying and exhilarating ride!
“And now things will speed up even more. I’ll still be here (naturally.) Our team is just getting bigger — both at the MarketingSherpa brand and also with the ability to lean on the research and technical team at MEC Labs.
MarketingSherpa really does have great content, and it’s always free for a week or so after appearing online. If you like e-commerce, internet marketing, or SEO, you should definitely subscribe to their free “best of weekly” newsletter.
The entrepreneur fight club dinner in SLC was fun tonight. The conversation was markedly more tame than last time I went (no midget-warriors this time), but it was still pretty darn fun. The atmosphere was relaxed; basically everyone sits around, eats, and talks about what their working on, etc. It’s good stuff. We bounced some ideas around, talked about when to seek funding (and when not to), etc. I also met a few people I’d been interested in getting to know, including Richard Tripp from Yepic, Bob Barnes from Zonder, Colin Kelly Jr. from Lumin Publishing & Connect Magazine, Alex Lawrence from Lawrence Capital Management, and Nick Macey from University Venture Fund.
Jeff Barson, Ryan Money, & Geoff Osmond (all of whom I knew from before) were also there, along with “Jake” (whose last name I don’t remember, even though I asked him twice).
