Online Favicon Maker

My brother Luke sent me a link to a cool online favicon maker he used to make a favicon for my new company, Izeni. It’s pretty easy to use, so I made one for my blog as well. (Yes, it’s that same ugly pic, just smaller). Anyway, it’s kind of fun. If I’d known it would be that easy to do, I would have made a favicon forever ago. :)

I went to Izeni and could only get a sketchy understanding - probably because I’m dense. Jordy, get in touch - I’d like to know what you’re working on.

    @ Allan -

No, you’re not dense. :) We wanted the splash page to be short, so it ended up being much more vague than the real site would be. I’d be happy to talk in more detail about what we’re doing anytime.

You don’t generally even have to use a .ico anymore. My favicon is a .png, well, actually it’s not. That’s probably because .png didn’t work in IE or somesuch. I do know that .png worked as favicon in firefox for sure :) Anyway, there’s a nice little linux util called icoutil that works great for making icons from images and vice-versa. And using the way of doing it, like you have in your blog, is absolutely awesome. You can have different icons for different pages on the same site! :)

Dern, it wanted to make a tag out of my link thing, and then threw it away. That should have read “using the <link rel=’shortcut icon’…> way of doing it…”
