Superman - The Musical
We got an ad in the mail today for “Superman, the Musical”. I couldn’t figure out if it was trying to appeal to me or my wife… I think it was promoting some twisted compromise where we both lose. Segmentation, anyone?
Next up: Rambo, the Ballet. :)

Yeah, I frequently drive past the SCERA — especially now on my way back from school — and have noticed that on the sign. We (my wife and I) thought at first, maybe, that the theatre was playing “Superman Returns” and there would a show called “The Musical” at the Shell come next weekend. But, alas, our hopes were dashed.
I’m somewhat tempted to see it just out of morbid curiosity, but there’s no way my wife will go with me to see “that abomination”, and she probably wont let me have the $10 to go myself. :)

Ah, but alas you must remember that the musical of Superman was the first attempt to bring the story alive by the same authors that later wrote the beloved Superman movies staring Christopher Reeve. The bits and bits of that musical script were later used in the movies as scenes. The producers of the original broadway musical couldn’t make the show fly (Harold Prince was the producer who is also known for directing The Phantom of the Opera and many more shows). The authors of the script went on the create the screen play for the first Superman and found a way to cash in. So when you think of this “abomination”… remember…. it’s like looking back at where is all began to get your men in tights up onto the big screen!
